MTV recently reported that Big Sean is one of the most improved rappers of 2017.

It’s a bit hard to swallow when you think about the statement. However, he has lyrically improved over the years but is that something to celebrate?

His new album is going to determine if he has truly improved. Big Sean was never a bad rapper, per se — at worst, he was a blah rapper with funny punch lines and not much else, says MTV. None the less, his middle of the road rap skills has left him with plenty of room to improve. If you put him up against the rappers currently out, he still is around a 7/8, so a bit better than most. But is that something to talk about?

We are personally not convinced, but MTV surely wants you to believe he’s performed some magical lyrical improvement. At most, he is an engaging artist, but we will have to see how many hits and songs on his new album ‘I Decided’ don’t suck.  So far, “Bounce Back” and “Moves” is proving worthy of a great album, but there are 10 more tracks to go.

Check out his first single.

Stay tuned as Big Sean will be dropping his junior album, ‘I Decided’ on February 3, 2017.
