Once again people are taking things too far with the term cultural appropriation. This time Rihanna is the target, the only problem is the people complaining are NOT FACT CHECKING!
Rihanna is NOT committing cultural appropriation. Read on to find out why…
CelebNFashion247.com would like to clear the air for all the mishap wannabees out there trying to act like they are news sites, media or fashion blogs.
First, before sounding off trying to claim cultural appropriation, do some fact-checking.
Good girl gone bad Rihanna posed for the cover of Harper’s Bazaar China in traditional Chinese garb for a new magazine cover.
Rihanna was outfitted in Asian floral patterns, with matching hair and makeup for Harper’s Bazaar China.
Harpers touted its cover as “[a] western-style icon meets [an] eastern aesthetic,” and shared the glam pics on Instagram on Monday.
Of course someone one wanted to call her out for it. And as always, social media decided to debate over whether the pop queen was guilty of cultural appropriation.
One Twitter user quipped:
so nodoby gunna call rihanna out for cultural appropriation… hmm i see.
Another user checked the idiocy saying:
It’s not cultural appropriation because the entire team behind Harper’s Bazaar China is Chinese. THEY, Chinese people, dressed Rihanna like that.
This is not the first time Rihanna has shown love for the Far East look. Back in 2015, Rih Rih stunned in a gold gown by Chinese designer Guo Pei at the Met Gala’s “China: Through the Looking Glass.”
Where was social media then? Oh that’s right they just learned the term cultural appropriation in 2019, so they were cool with it. #SMH
